Well, yesterday was my birthday and it was one for the books!
I was having a rough week last week missing my girl, face timed with her on Friday after her classes, and I was laying on my bed Friday night talking with Barb on face time when my bedroom door flung open and who was standing there? CHARLOTTE! Biggest surprise ever and the best 4 days a girl could ask for. It really was.
She arrived Friday night, and of course, she and I were both in tears! Overjoyed and just so grateful for the opportunity. She planned the entire thing herself, bought her own round trip ticket, took her first, alone UBER ride to the airport, got through security, to the gate, got on that plane and landed at Laguardia. GO CHAR!!!!
I was, and still am shocked and so happy. Those memories will forever hold a place in my aching heart! We chilled out Friday night, she saw her boyfriend for a little bit, his birthday is also this week, Saturday, she got breakfast with one of her friends who goes to college here, then she and I spent the whole afternoon together shopping, we went out to a nice birthday dinner, she got her nails done, spent Sunday celebrating her boyfriend's birthday and yesterday we celebrated my birthday with bagels and cake. She left for the airport at 3 and got to her gate to find out all flights were grounded for at least 5 hours. The poor kid, got a lot of homework done, but didn't take off until after 8 PM. She met 2 UNC students on the flight and shared an UBER back to the school from the airport which was fantastic!
She made it back to the dorm safely at around 11:30, then had to rally and get herself to classes by 7:45 AM. Needless to say, she's beat. But at least it's a short week.
Love that kid so much. Now we have a 30 day countdown to see her again for Parents' Weekend. Barb goes for Marina's this weekend.
Great, great weekend. One for the books!
