Happy Friday y'all! Can you hear the southern accent? LOLLLL
Charlotte was quite the New York celebrity at the UNC Orientation these last few days! It was her and maybe 3 other kids from NY. Most other kids are from NC, Texas and Kentucky. New York is so intriguing to them. It's so funny. So that scored her major points! They said, but you don't have a New York accent! She said well I'm not from Queens or Brooklyn! But people who aren't from Long Island don't get it.
Anyway, UNC was above and BEYOND what I expected. Blew every, single campus we've seen out of the water. Made Princeton look like a low income area! LOLLLLLL Now I know why people say Chapel Hill is the most beautiful campus. You're looking at almost 800 acres of the oldest public Ivy League University in the nation. That's pretty incredible. And it shows. You could eat off the ground, it's so pristine. Beautiful gardens, architecture, grandeur you have to see it in person to understand. The stadium is the size of CITI Field. 30,000 students attend, if that gives you an idea, Every dorm room is spacious and she gets a twice a week cleaning service to clean her suite bathroom and shower! Free laundry too! No quarters necessary. Every dorm room also has A/C! It's like the Four Seasons and you should see the view! The campus has a huuuuuge medical center/trauma center smack in the middle of it! Takes up about 4 blocks. It has a really amazing medical school. Just awesomeness all around.
Not in a run down dinky trashy college town. It's in the city of Chapel Hill which is tree lined, gorgeous and filled with a ton of restaurants, boutiques and shopping! Museums, planetarium, art exhibits, you name it. It really does live up to it's reputation. The people are SO nice and friendly, welcoming and warm. My Mom heart is full knowing she will be going there. AND the flight was just a bit over an hour!!! Amazing!
Not one single thing I didn't love.
Now, we go dorm room shopping. My very generous Uncle Joe and parents set Charlotte up with a fund to buy everything she needs to decorate the dorm, so now we have to concentrate on that! We've had no time to do anything. So she and I have a plan to complete it all by the end of next week. It's getting real and exciting! We leave Aug 12th and she moves in Aug 13 or 14th? Classes begin Aug 17th. She'll be the first of the all the kids to leave. Gulp!
She has a fall break sometime in October, which I'm sure she'll probably want to come home for, then Web and I are headed down for parents' weekend the end of October. Then she'll be home for Thanksgiving! So not too bad. Then a long break for Christmas.
So that's everything in a nutshell. Lots of traveling, walking and going, going but all so great!
Here are a few pics. Hugs, Annie
