Well, Happy Saturday from the rehab house. LOL And belated Valentines Day!
Web had his surgery yesterday. It was a whirlwind of changing times and ridiculousness leading up to it with him being so sick. So everything was stressful, Like, unnecessarily stressful, you know?
(his walking stick)
They changed the time on the surgery late the night before from 2:30 pm yesterday, to -you have to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM. Bizarre. And dumb. I had to work all day, because that was in the plan and I would be there for the surgery when I got out of work at 1 but that didn't happen, so..... Out of my control. You have to know when to say, well, it is what it is and you get there when you get there. My Mom was going to pick him up for me, but ME only ME was the only person on the paperwork that could go so. Whatever.
The hospital was almost an hour away. Which also sucked because we live in very close 10 min proximity to 3 hospitals, so I really don't get that... Moving on. We made it home finally yesterday around 3:30. He was in pain. You could see it in his face, the minute I pulled up to the hospital. Once the numbness wore off, he was and is today, in a lot of pain, but to be expected. They gave him major meds etc. So in time, he should be good. He has his appt on Tuesday with surgeon to remove those super tight bandages. He was told not to touch them. So he didn't sleep at all last night and hopefully, he'll nap today.
( he mostly stays upstairs with his foot elevated but comes down in AM)
He has a cane and a shoe walking thing to protect the foot. He's icing it as well.
My co-workers were so nice to send us a really generous food gift card, which definitely came in handy last night after a VERY long day. Barb and Spiro also dropped off bagels and coffee for us today. So lucky to be surrounded by such kind and thoughtful people.
Charlotte is leaving for her cruise to the Bahamas tomorrow. Man, I'm SO jealous. So after her softball practice today, we are in full packing mode here, she and I. I'm so happy for her.
(his nurses)
That's the update for now. I'll check in on Monday with an update on the patient. Fingers crossed the throbbing will subside :)
Have a great weekend!
Ann
